EN:
Hercules (Heracles) in the lion's skin. Two-headed dog at his feet (the other side) is called Orthos. Better known dog Cerberus has three heads.

Ares, son of the supreme Greek god Zeus and his wife Hera, in Greek mythology the god of war.

It is known that the Olympus were just two gods of war, among which, however, was a world of difference.

Ares was the god of war, fierce, bloody battles and ravages of war. He did not care, war, love warriors, their bravery, but also their death. He was in his element in the middle of the clash of arms, the blood stream. He supported the outbreak of any war at any time. He was a friend of negotiation, repression of war.
goddess Athena, goddess of wisdom, the patron of bravery, justice, fairness, but also arts, was the goddess of winning the war. It was impossible to ever bear the fury led war wisely and judiciously, but mostly victorious.
It is impossible to say by Ares. Did not miss a single battle, appeared with a large shield, armor and his magical sword. His constant companion were sons Deimos - the personification of terror - and Phobos - the personification of terror. He was a skilled warrior, but once supported the second time one side as he just threw. He was not invincible, often leaving the field empty-handed. Athena prevailed over him always, never overcame her combative fury. Ares was not popular people, but neither gods, Zeus his father rebuked him many times and not to his son, he threatened he would overthrow the depths of Tartarus.

Some stories depict warfare area very badly, eg. Below Troy when he was wounded with a spear warrior Diomedes Ares fled from the battlefield. He was once said to have overpowered Otos and Efialtés, two young giant, bound him, and put into a barrel, where it was held for over a year and if he did not free the god Hermes, he would never return.

Nevertheless, he was depicted as a total Arés handsome man, whose crudity Trooper attracted women. The evidence is that in love with him herself goddess of love Aphrodite, the wife of the god Hephaistos ugly. Their sons were Deimos, Phobos, Eros and Anteros daughter Harmonia, wife of the king of Thebes KADM.

Ares was honored in Greece much less than his Roman counterpart Mars. Both of these figures are not completely identical and Mars was the god definitely important.
