The Lido Theater is located across the street and east of Parque Bolivar. The theater began operations in 1947 and was the most important music hall through the of 1950s and 1960s. However, in the early 1980s the theater began to decline. In 1997 the theater was declared as an architectural heritage of Medellin.

In 2005 a restoration of the Lido began. Original parts as Theatre's stained glass, murals, wood floors and mirrors were preserved, while adding modern technical equipment. In December 2007, the Ballet Folklorico de Antioquia won the public competition to manage the Theater and it was reopened that year.
