In the rear of the main body of tractors displayed at the orchard are a pair of oldies, a Wallis 20-30 and this Minneapolis Moline Model Z. The Z was powered by a 36 HP 3.4 litre four cylinder engine rated at 1500 RPM. The Z, with several variants, was produced beginning in the late 40s. The variants were: ZAU: tricycle front; ZAS: standard front; ZAN: single front wheel; ZAE: adjustable wide front and ZASI: industrial. This would be a ZAS, or standard model, intended for field work. Equipped with a five speed transmission, it had a top speed for field work of 6.3 MPH and 13.1 MPH in road gear.
Minneapolis-Moline Tractor History

Minneapolis-Moline was formed by the merger of Minneapolis Steel and Machinery, the Minneapolis Threshing Machine Company, and the Moline Plow Company in 1929. Minneapolis Steel brought tractor experience to the group, having produced tractors for Case and Bull, along with its own line of Twin City tractors. In the late 1930s, Minneapolis-Moline unveiled the model UDLX Comfotractor. Featuring a high speed gear box and a full cab with heater and radio it was at least a generation ahead of its time in terms of operator comfort. In 1963, Minneapolis-Moline was purchased by White Motors, which dropped the Minneapolis-Moline name in 1974.
