Located within Rock Point Pioneer Cemetery are very old and established gravesites of settlers to this area over 170 years ago. The eastern portion of this cemetery is dedicated to the IOOF Cemetery. the only history I could find on this cemetery online was found here and reads:

Oregon I-5 to exit 43, Rock Point, just north of Gold Hill. Follow signs for a short distance to US 99/State Hwy 234. Turn right towards Gold Hill (US 99 south/234). From that intersection, proceed 0.7 miles, passing over the Rogue River and continuing to a small "Rock Point Cemetery" sign on the right side of the road pointing to a driveway on the opposite side of the road. Turn left onto the dirt drive, go over the railroad track (uncontrolled crossing) and proceed into the cemetery. The cemetery is open during the day, shorter hours in winter, longer in summer. Nearest restroom facilities are in Gold Hill.

Over a hundred years ago, a local landowner deeded about 26-1/2 acres of land for a cemetery in the Rock Point district a few miles west of Gold Hill, Jackson County, Oregon. While the town of Rock Point no longer exists, the graves are still there.

Around 1900, part of the cemetery land was deeded to the IOOF and that side was maintained with regular lot designations and caretaking, but the other side, which became known as the Pioneer Cemetery, declined. In 1955, a group of civic-minded citizens got together, cleaned up the cemeteries and recorded tombstones and grave markers.

After the cleanup, an alphabetical index and lot listing of the IOOF side was published under the auspices of the Rogue Valley Genealogical Society. Included was a list of names in the Pioneer cemetery, which was created several years later. The last revision and publication of the book was over 20 years ago.

About 900 markers were read for this survey. It is felt that there at least 1000 burials in the entire cemetery. The cemetery is walkable, with some overgrown vegetation and burrs in the spring and summer.
