In the near-term, the first 1.2 miles are essential for completing the Finger Lakes Trail. If that's your goal, you'll have to do this portion as an out-and-back.
If your goal is to do some peak-bagging, you can turn right at the trail intersection and hike Peekamoose and Table, or you could turn left, and climb Slide, Whittenburg and Cornell (total of 5 of the Catskill 5 over 3500 ft)
