One of the last 1930s-era auto courts on old Route 66, La Puerta Lodge is still operating as a motel today.
To Blasterz, the La Puerta Lodge appears like it is in transition between the "rough" Central Ave of the recent past and the "renovated retro-cool" Central Ave of the future.
Blasterz are not sure if the motel hosts overnight travelers or more long-term residents, but we did see cars and folks sitting on the porches in front of some of the rooms.
La Puerta is one of the oldest auto courts along Route 66, now that the Aztec has ben demolished. It was listed on the US National Register of Historic Places in 1998.
