A new Blue Star Marker was dedicated at the National Cemetery in Jefferson City, Missouri on July 4, 2014. It is located on East McCarty Street--the old US 50/63 route the road took until an express highway was built the the early 1960s.

A new Blue Star Memorial plaque was dedicated on July 4, 2014 in Jefferson City's historic National Cemetery. The new Blue Star Memorial designation is sponsored by the Capital Garden of Jefferson City and by the Federated Garden Clubs of Missouri. Joyce Lewis, President of the Federated Garden Clubs of Missouri and Linda Houston, Central District Director spoke at the dedication. The new marker is particularly important as the 150 year anniversary of the approach of Confederate General Sterling Price's campaign. Near here Price's army paused before deciding not to attack the city on October 7, 1864. And the cemetery is also the final resting place for Union soldiers from the Centrailia massacre of September 1864.
