The vacation colony was founded in 1948 by Reverend Louis-Georges Lamontagne as part of the Scout movement. In the summer of 1950, after the great fire of Rimouski, the site was used as accommodations for many children, while their parents rebuilt their burned homes. Since then, direct affiliation with Scouting has quietly disappeared, but left several traces that are still relevant today. The organization has now ceased its activities.
