This small memorial utilizes actual shells from the U.S. Civil War (Union). You don't realize how big 15" (38.1 cm) is until you see the stack of these canon balls.

I have not been able to discover any other information except that this was installed by E. T. Upton, Post No. 008 (from (visit link) )
