Icy Strait Point on Chichagof Island is the only privately-owned cruise ship destination in Alaska. The dock complex began early in the twentieth century as the Hoonah Packing cannery. Since 1996, the facility has been operated by the Hunah Totem Corporation. Beginning in 2004, ships from Royal Caribbean International and its sister Celebrity Cruises began visiting Icy Strait Point. Many other cruise lines now visit Icy Strait Point. The most frequented excursion activity is the world's longest zip ride.
