This Out of Place Grave is at the Fort Daer Landing and Recreation Area on West Stutsman Street at Old Highway 81 in Pembina, North Dakota.

This is the only grave in the area and it's 200 feet northwest of the corner of West Stutsman Street at Old Highway 81.

The grave is well marked and the area is well maintained.

Major Hatch was commander of Minnesota Volunteer Cavalry Battalion from September 30, 1863 to June 1864.

According to Wikipedia (visit link) "Hatch's Battalion, Minnesota Volunteer Cavalry lost no men killed in action or died of wounds received in battle and 21 enlisted men died of disease. Total fatalities were 21."
