Lima Locomotive works built HHRR Engine No. 6 for the City of San Francisco in 1921. For 2 years it huffed its way up steep grades and around hairpin turns to carry materials up to the Hetch Hetchy Valley for construction of the O'Shaughnessy Dam.
Following completion of the dam, San Francisco sold the engine to the Pickering Lumber Corporation where it moved lumber until its retirement in 1958.
The El Portal Transportation Museum now owns No. 6 and they display it at the former terminus of the Yosemite Valley Railroad.
The National Register of Historic Places listed No. 6 in 1978.
