The Steamer Portland Memorial is located inside the fence, on the northwest side, of Highland Lighthouse (a.k.a. Cape Cod Light) in North Truro, MA on Cape Cod.

On November 27, 1898, the steamer Portland sailed from Boston heading for Portland, Maine. That evening a storm known as the "Portland Gale" struck the coast of Cape Cod with extensive damaged to ships and shore properties. The Portland was lost at sea. There were no survivors and the ship was never found. Since there was no passenger manifest, the number of persons lost can only be estimated.
A plaque attached to a boulder on the grounds of Highland Lighthouse is inscribed:
