In Boston's Public Garden is this statue of Colonel Thomas Cass and a memorial to the Massachusetts 9th Infantry during the U.S. Civil War.
The statue is located along the southernmost path within the park, southeast of the pond in the park, and is near Boylston Street.
The statue is a bronze work on a stone pedestal. The figure is standing, in a Civil War uniform, with his arms folded in front of him. The stone pedestal is four-sided, with a broad base.
Text on the front is as follows (from the Smithsonian Art Catalog):
