Before the Revolutionary War, Seth Warner was a captain in the Green Mountain Boys, under Ethan Allen. This militia defended settlers in the New Hampshire Grants, present day vermont, against claims by New York State.

On May 8, 1775, Seth Warner, Ethan Allen and James Easton of Pittsfield, MA set out on an expedition to capture Fort Ticonderoga, NY. He and his men formed a protective rear guard on the east side of Lake Chaplain. He then captured the British position at Crown Point, NY. He then participated in the capture of Montreal, PQ and the subsequent retreat from Canada. He successfully halted the advance of General John Burgoyne's army at the battle of Hubbardston (now VT).

When British General John Burgoyne sent an expedition under Lieutenant Colonel Friedrich Baum with a force of Indians, Canadians, Loyalist and Hessians to capture American supplies at Bennington, Vermont. Colonel Seth Warner joind the forces of General John Stark to successfully defeated the British force at Bennington, VT.

An 8' high granite statue of Colonel Seth Warner stands on a 18' high polished granite multi-tiered base. Col. Seth Warner wearing a continental army uniform and a two-cornered hat. He is holding a sword in his right hand and his left hand is up against his chest. The statue was created by Harry J. Bertoli and dedicated on August 16, 1911.
