Bei der Gestaltung dieses Brunnens im gotischen Stil folgte Weinbrenner einer Zeitströmung, die im 18. Jahrhundert von England ausgegangen war und auch verschiedentlich hierzulande Eingang in die Baukunst gefunden hatte. Der Brunnen auf dem Ludwigsplatz ist um das Jahr 1824 entstanden. Aus der Mitte des achteckigen Beckens ragt überquadratischem Sockel ein Aufbau in der Form einer gotischen Fiale.
Erbaut wurde der Brunnen 1824 zusammen mit Aloys Raufer.

In the design of this fountain in the Gothic style Weinbrenner followed a trend of the times, had gone out in the 18th century from England and had also on several occasions in this country found their way into the architecture. The fountain on the Ludwigsplatz was built around 1824. From the center of the octagonal basin extends over a square base structure in the form of a Gothic spire.
The fountain was built in 1824 together with Aloys Mauler.
