The Meriden World War I Memorial is a 50' high granite column topped by a bronze eagle with its wings outspread. Atound the base of the column are four platforms each holding a larger-than-life bronze figure representing branches of the services that participated in the war. The northwest figure depicts soldier holding a rifle in his right hand. The southwest figure depicts sailor holding a rifle vertically in front of him. The southeast side has the figure of a nurse standing erect. The northeast side has a marine, holding a rifle on his right shoulder.

The sculptor of the monument was Aristide Berto Cianfarani. Lorenzon Hamilton was the architect and the figures were cast at the Gorham Manufacturing Company. The monument was dedicated on November 8, 1930.

The pedestal supporting the soldier is inscribed:

DEDICATED TO
THE MEMORY OF THOSE
FROM MERIDEN WHO MADE
