Old Bill Williams (1787 - 1849) was a noted mountain man and frontiersman. He served as an interpreter for the government, and led several expeditions in the West. Fluent in several languages, he lived with the Ute tribe, & Osage tribe where he married the daughter of a chief.
William Sherley Williams sculpture is an Eight feet tall monument erected by the City of Williams to honour the mountain man for whom the town was named.
The monument was unveiled in 1980 by Senator Barry Goldwater in a celebration that was covered by the national media.
