Monastery Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary
The church was built in the middle of the 12th century in the Romanesque style.
In the middle of the 13th century the Church burnt out and was renovated as a Gothic three-nave basilica with three choirs and two towers in the front. During the Hussite wars it was twice plundered and very heavily spoiled. The renovation of the choir was completed, the main altar was erected and the presbytery vault was finished in 1462. After confiscation of the monastery in 1467 the Church started to fall into disrepair. It was only after the buyout of the Monastery in 1623 when construction of the new convent started, and the Church renovation was finished in 1630. A big fire destroyed both the convent and the Church in 1712 again. Renovation work was commenced in 1714 with participation of the architect J. B. Santini in the Baroque Gothic style. The Church axis is optically extended with a foremost antechamber and towers between which a Gothic monstrance is situated. The interior is divided into three naves with suspended overhead arch stones, the ceiling is a typical example of the Baroque Gothic style. The through-views to the gallery at side large windows can be interpreted as a way towards the light. In 1884-85, the Church was repaired again, and its southern tower burnt in 1907 during a big fire. Extensive maintenance work was carried out and confessional boxes together with side altars were restored during the last repairs in 2006 - 2008.
