The Lipstick Building is one of the most recognizable buildings in New York City as its color and shape are reminiscent of a lipstick tube.

The Lipstick Building, located at 885 Third Avenue, was completed in 1986. The building is very recognizable both for its reddish-brown color and its elliptical shape. The three tiers look as though they could close up telescopically.
Perhaps the most infamous tenant in the building was Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities which occupied the 17th through 19th floors. Madoff was convicted of fraud and other charges in 2009 and sentenced to 150 years in prison as a result of a $65 billion Ponzi scheme.
