This life-size bronze sculpture of a young nude male was created in 1940 by German sculptor Bernhard Bleeker. This sculpture was originally carrying a spear; however, all that remains of the spear is a small piece held in the young man's raised right hand. The young man is standing with his left knee bent and his left hand hanging down by his side.
The sculpture is located in Lietzenseepark. "Often overshadowed by larger, more well-known parks/lakes, Lietzensee is an accessible, charming, and soothing urban retreat, with a cafe on the north end, a walking/jogging/riding path around the entire lake, several play areas, and plenty of grass for sunbathing. The weeping willows and other trees lining the lake are particularly notable and, in the fall, quite stunning. Close to the ICC S-bahn and the Neuekantstrasse bus stops. If it's cold enough, it's a popular place to ice skate. When it's warmer, the grass in front of the monument on the east side seems to be the accepted area for topless or "smaller-bottomed" sunbathing." --Source (
