Anyone visiting The McAllister House in Colorado Springs will have the opportunity to see what life was like during the late 19th century of Colorado Springs. Built in 1873, the McAllister House is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Army major Henry McAllister built the home with brick after he learned that the wind in Colorado Springs could be so strong it had blown a train off then nearby tracks.

The McAllister House still has many original features, including three magnificent marble fireplaces. The beautifully maintained home is owned by the Colonial Dames of America, with friendly and knowledgeable volunteers leading one-hour guided tours.

With careful research and painstaking restoration, the Colonial Dames have returned the McAllister House in Colorado Springs to its original charm and elegance. The McAllister House is located in the Old North End neighborhood that boasts large shade trees, wide streets and many other historic and charming Victorian homes.

The McAllister House guides and staff will bring the original occupants to life with their extensive knowledge of the city and McAllister House family history. A Victorian High Tea time is a great way to take a step back in time.
