Eckville's Town Hall is on 51st Avenue, at 5023. In front fly the flags of Canada, Alberta and Eckville. Eckville lies 4.5 km. north on Highway 766 from Highway 11, and about 17 km west of Sylvan Lake, a major tourist draw in the area.

The office is open for business Monday to Friday (except holidays) from 9:00 to 12:00 and 1:00 to 4:30.

Eckville is a small farming town in central Alberta which also relies on lumbering and the oil patch for employment. It is surrounded by oil and gas fields, as are a great many communities in the province. Named after the town's founder, Arthur E.T. Eckford, the landowner of the original Eckville, it moved to its present location to be nearer the Northern Alberta Railroad, which bypassed the original townsite. It was incorporated as a village in 1921 and a town in 1966. It presently has a population of about 1,150 and serves a rural area of roughly similar population.
