"Master Mason Samuel Berner, drawings confirmed in 1757. The building is the oldest surviving customs building and warehouse in Helsinki and it was completed in 1765. The building constitutes the only realized portion of the planned fortification system for the city. The town council held meetings on the top floor until 1804. The building was badly damaged in the fire of 1808. The present appearance of the building dates from a renovation in 1811. Since the beginning of the 1900's the building has been used by the Police Department and the City of Helskinki"
