The Greenwich Power Station, designed and built by the London County Council between 1902-1910 to power the Council's electric tramways, is one of the beautiful monuments of idustrial architecture in London. The four tapering octagonal chimneys for Phase 1 (1906) of the Power Station were 76 meters high but in response to objections by the Royal
Observatory, the height of the southernmost pair for Phase ll was limited to 55 meters.
