The Saint Stanislaus Parish was founded in 1878 and the current building had its cornerstone laid in 1891 and was dedicated in 1892. The church was the mother church for three other Polish Catholic parishes in St. Louis. The building suffered a fire in 1928 destroying a center dome. The church was repaired but without the dome.

The Parish in recent years has been involved in a disagreement with the St. Louis Archdiocese about property ownership. The disagreement has resulted in the parish not being recognized as an active parish in the Archdiocese and the excommunication of the Priest and some others involved with the church. The parish continues to celebrate Mass in both English and Polish every Sunday. The Parish continues to be very active with the Polish community in St. Louis. The primary and secondary websites listed below present both sides of the disagreement.
