Well off the beaten path, this fire hall was built to serve the residents on the east side of the Kootenay River across from the community of Bonnington and the dams of Bonnington Falls. The area is only accessible by a single road below the Lower Bonnington Dam or, alternatively, by way of back roads a long way to Nelson. Ergo, it was in genuine need of a fire hall.
The department serves an area of approximately 15 square kilometers, with 289 dwellings and 723 people. This is an all volunteer fire department with a current roster of 26 members, including two junior members.
Their equipment lineup:
- Engine 1 - 1991 International 4800 / Fort Garry (625/700)
