Foremost has a population of over 500 and serves a trading area of over 2,000. It was recently chosen as the location for the establishment of an innovative training and development center for UAS (Unmanned Aircraft Systems) technology. Geographically the region has unique attributes that make it an ideal location for the operation, development and training for UAS systems.

Foremost's fire hall and ambulance service is on the south side of Third Avenue East, immediately east of Highway 61. A concrete block building, it has sufficient overhead doors to accommodate three fire engines and an ambulance. Atop the fire hall is one of those old style sirens that was possibly rescued, either from an older fire hall or a siren tower in the town.

The Village Website indicates that "Foremost has an active Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance Squad There are 26 fire hydrants in the Village and all buildings are within 1,000 feet of a hydrant. Paramedic service and Air Ambulance are available from Medicine Hat, if needed."
