I recovered this U.S. General Land Office Survey pipe cap from 1923 in good condition, although the pipe has been bent slightly to one side, most likely from a neighboring fir tree's growth. This pipe cap is monumented on a metal pipe protruding about nine inches above the ground and at a slight angle. This section corner has the stamping of 'T37S R5E' as well as sections 19, 20, 29 & 30 on the disk face. The year '1923' is also stamped on the disk face. There are three nearby bearing trees with yellow placards to aid in locating the pipe cap. a couple of nearby trees also have red spraypainted horizontal bands around the trunk. The pipe cap is located between a large fir tree and a fallen tree and about 15 feet north of Blue Lick Rd.

To reach this pipe cap, turn north onto NF-37 Road (Big Elk Rd) from Dead Indian Memorial Rd. Continue north a few miles until you reach Brown Mountain Rd on the right. Turn right onto Brown Mountain Rd and continue east a couple of miles until you see Blue Lick Rd on the left. Turn left onto Blue Lick Rd and continue east about 1.5 miles until you reach the station on the left. My posted coordinates will place you very close to this survey mark.
