Ce beau palais était le lieu de réunion des commerçants et les courtiers dans le 17ème siècle. Il a été construit à la manière de la célèbre Bourse d'Antwerp.
Il a été construit en 1652-1653 par Julien Destrée à la demande des hommes d'affaires de Lille qui voulaient une Bourse de rivaliser avec celle de la Hollande. Il est fait de 24 maisons avec fenêtres lucarnes situées autour d'une cour rectangulaire qui a agi comme un centre pour les opérations et les maisons d'aujourd'hui bouquinistes dans la cour. Dans la cour de monuments à certains des plus grands scientifiques de la région et les gens d'affaires aussi.
En 1921, l'échange avait dépassé l'immeuble, les locataires ont emménagé dans la Chambre de Commerce bâtiment nouvellement achevé à travers la place.

This beautiful palace was the meeting place of tradesmen and stockbrokers in the 17th century. It was built in the fashion of the famous Antwerp Exchange.
It was built in 1652-1653 by Julien Destrée at the request of the Lille businessmen who wanted a Stock Exchange to rival that of Holland. It's made out of 24 dormer windowed houses set out around a rectangular courtyard which acted as a centre for the transactions and today houses second-hand booksellers in the courtyard. Also in the courtyard of monuments to some of the region's greatest scientists and business people.
By 1921, the exchange had outgrown the building so the tenants moved into the newly completed Chamber of Commerce building across the plaza.
