The Finger Lakes Trail (FLT) main trail is 563 miles long, extending from the Pennsylvania border in Alleghany State Park to Denning, east of Claryville (Ulster County), with and additional 360 miles of branch trails.

Balsam Lake Mountain is the only Catskill peak over 3500 feet elevation that the FLT traverses.
