Over the years, this crossing on Beaver Dam Creek has gone from totally miserable in the seventies to fantastic now that the US Army engineers came in to upgrade the crossing with a rock lined bottom. Being adjacent to the US Army Camp Mackall Military Reservation where the elite US Army Special Forces hold their qualification course Robin Sage. They use the crossing frequently so as a good deed they repaired the crossing for all to use. As you cross the ford on a usual crossing the water is 12-18 inches deep and you are 2 feet below the water level of the beaver pond, looking out your window at the water level of the pond. The crossing is about 12-15 feet in normal weather but can be about 20-30 ft as water rolls around the edges of the beaver dam after a rain storm.
