"This fish was created by Lyle from Harley Davidson motorcycle mufflers. It was purchased by the Town of Palisade and is displayed in the central park in downtown Palisade. It is one of those pieces that you have to look at up close to appreciate the artistry involved in creating this art piece out of a material that you would never think possible." "Harley II, being a fish after all, is located just a few feet from Big Dry Creek and is very visible to the many pedestrians and bicyclists using the Big Dry Creek Trail. The sculpture is approximately 18 inches wide, 3 feet tall and 6 ½ feet long. The sculpture is of a bluegill or sunfish which are found in Westminster ponds and lakes. The fish’s scales are made out of pieces of chrome mufflers from Harley Davidson brand motorcycles, hence the name of the sculpture. The artist, Lyle Nichols, created Harley II using mufflers to inspire young people to consider using a wide range of recyclable materials in making art. Harley II is the second Harley sculpture. The first “Harley” is located in Palisade, Colorado.

Harley II is the city’s second custom sculpture created by Lyle Nichols. The first is “Dolly” (visit link) which is located at Shoenberg Farm at the northwest corner of 72nd Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard. The life-sized cow was constructed from recycled metal including parts of a milk can from the Shoenberg Dairy." (from (visit link) )
