Roku 1658 dal pelhrimovský purkmistr Jan Eusebius na tomto míste postavit boží muka. Poté, co se v Pelhrimove údajne odehrálo nekolik zázracných uzdravení, které byly dávány do souvislosti s obrazem Panny Marie na techto božích mukách, byla postavena na jejich míste meštanem Tobiášem Grötzelem v letech 1710-1714 kaple Panny Marie Sedmibolestné.

In 1658 mayor of Pelhrimov Jan Eusebius decided to build wayside shrine in this place.
