Located 13 miles from the Kabetogama Visitor Center in Voyageurs National Park, this historical landmark is only accessible by boat. Fishing boats are the common way to reach the area, but the park service also offers a tour boat rides for a fee.
The white frame hotel was built in 1908 and opened for business five years later. The establishment is furnished with period antiques, offers 12 guest rooms, dining room, bar with old fashioned jute box and pool table, and the fun feature of a sloping floor which slants down toward the outer wall. The lobby is a relaxing place to read or play board games, and a wrap-around porch is a perfect area to enjoy the island breeze. The hotel was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.
