This historical marker memorializes the deaths in 1872 of miners who got caught when the mine caught fire. They were 170 Feet down and 9 miners and a 9 year boy died, only 7 miners survived. The mine was locater on property near where Route 225 intersects with route 224 in Atwater, ohio.
