Coming from MO-39, my GPSr tried to take me up from FR2030 onto FR1187 northward and then westward toward the cemetery, but this does not work. FR1187 ends on private land. You must approach this cemetery from the west, on FR1180. Navigate to this point:
N36°53.080' W093°44.272'
where you will find the classically misspelled sign for Clay Hill "Cemetary" (ugh!). You then take the long lane (FR2027) east to the cemetery. According to the topographic maps, there had been a Clay Hill Church directly in front of you when the road curves to the north at the cemetery entrance. The church can be seen on
a rootsweb page. (The newer photos on that page are of the current church that is along MO-39 to the east.)
According to FindAGrave, although there were some graves without dates, the oldest recorded grave was from 1863.
