Proper Shoppers was created by talented artist Tom Rippon in 2002. It was commissioned by the City of Missoula Public Art Committee.

Proper Shoppers depicts a grandmother and her granddaughter who are all dressed up for a day of shopping in downtown Missoula.

They are waiting for the bus and watching the comings and goings of passersby as they scurry by.

Sadly, Mr. Rippon passed away in 2010. He was a professor at the University of Montana for 19 years and will be deeply missed by students and faculty.
