Several of Salem's historic homes were moved as a result of expansions to Salem's Capitol Mall. This Colonial-style house was built circa 1920 and was originally located about 10 blocks north on the NE corner of Chemeketa and Winter streets. In 1952, the house was put up for bid, purchased, and moved to the current site. The article at the related website link (below) provides more details about the house and relocation.
