This orphaned cornerstone is a preserved remnant of the original Blessing Hospital building. It is now on display in the hospital lobby.

From two historical displays in the hospital lobby:

"ORIGINAL CORNERSTONE

Inscription reads:

Erected 1874 by Charitable Aid

and Hospital Association on ground

donated by Matthias B. Deaman"

Another display reads as follows -

"When the original building was razed, the stone pediment over the door and the cornerstone were saved. The stone pediment now sits over the fountain of the Founders' Garden located outside the main entrance, and the cornerstone sits on the pedestal below."
