The Islamorada Fire Rescue Department is a combination career and volunteer organization operating from three (3) fire stations; station #19 Lower Matecumbe, station #20 Upper Matecumbe and station #21 Plantation Key. The department response vehicles include two (2) pumpers, one (1) 3000 gallon tanker, (1) 75’ ladder truck and three (3) rescue/ambulances and one (1) reserve rescue. There are eight (8) full time firefighter/EMS employees on duty, providing Emergency Medical Service, Rescue and Fire Suppression working a 24/48-hour shift. The Department also has 20 highly dedicated and trained volunteer firefighters that respond to fire and rescue incidents along side of the career firefighters.
