In 1777 a provision was made for the building of Spruce Corner School and a log building was erected on Old Goshen Road (now Willis Howes Rd). This school serviced 6 families in the local area. By 1874 then need for a new school was evident and this school was built. When the Consolidated school was built in 1939 this district school was abandoned.
