Zanesville is named after Ebenezer Zane, and is the county seat of Muskingum county. The original name of the town was Westbourne. The city was the second capitol of the state of Ohio from 1810-1812. The city is built around the confluence of the Licking and Muskingum rivers and is home to the Y bridge. This Y shaped bridge is part of US RT 40 (The National Road). Writer Zane Grey, grandson of Ebenerer Grey was born here.
