PC Michael Penrose, nicknamed Rosie, is a young keen policeman working in a quiet Yorkshire resort. He is partnered with a worldy wise copper by the name of PC Wilmot. Wilmot is a fan of his food, and when not eating and adjusting his attire, he is trying to avoid WPC Brenda Whatmough. Rosie also has girlfriend trouble in the form of rich girl Gillian.
For the first series of the comedy Rosie and his family live in the house at the end os Sea Cliff Rd. Later series use a different address.
