The plaque is on the second floor and reads, "The Colonial capital was moved to Williamsburg, (named in honor of King William III) in 1699 until 1780, when the capital was moved to Richmond. The Governor's Palace is furnished with one of the finest collects of English and American antiques in America. The Virginia General Assembly, the oldest legislative body in the western hemisphere, meets in the House of Burgesses each year."
