It is known as the birthplace of the Ford Model T. In 1904 the board of the Ford Motor Company approved the building of a New England style mill building at the corner of Piquette and Beaubien St. Ford occupied the building from 1904 to 1910 building the Model B, C, F, N, R, S and T here. In 1907 on the 3rd floor, Ford and a team on engineers developed the Model T. The first Model T rolled off the floor in 1908. Due to the success of the Model T, the Ford Company built the Highland Park Plant and moved production to this location in 1910.
