Einen Bahnhof für Züge gibt es an dieser Stelle seit 1844; das Bahnhofsgebäude, so wie es bis heute erhalten worden ist, wurde aber erst in den Jahren 1883/1884 gebaut. Es ist im Neo-Renaissance-Stil und steht unter Denkmalschutz. Seit 1971 trägt der Bahnhof den Titel "Bonn Hauptbahnhof".
Heute wird der Bonner Hauptbahnhof täglich von etwa 80 Fernverkehrszügen (ICE & IC) und 165 Nahverkehrszügen (RE, RB & MRB) angefahren und wird von etwa 40.000 Reisenden und Pendlern genutzt. Neben den fünf Bahngleisen sind an den Bahnhof eine viergleisige U-Bahn-Station, eine zweigleisige Straßenbahn-Haltestelle sowie ein Busbahnhof mit 16 Haltestellen angegliedert.

There was a train station here since 1844. However, the station building, which was preserved until today, was built not until 1883/1884. It's in Neo-Renaissance style and under monument protection. Since 1971 the station is called "Bonn Hauptbahnhof", German for "Bonn Main Station".
Today, about 80 main line track trains and 165 local trains stop here every day, and about 40.000 passengers use the station to get their train. Apart from the five train platforms, there's a subway station with four platforms, a tram station with two tracks, and a bus terminal with 16 stations.
