On Heron Road, south off Highway 200, this steel deck truss bridge carries traffic over the Pend Oreille River and thence into Heron, about a mile southeast. Built in 1952, the bridge has a single centre cantilever span of 360 feet, resting on two piers in the water, and an overall length of 695 feet. With a deck width of just 18 feet, this is a two lane bridge, but a narrow one. It isn't much to see from above, but all that steel below decks is quite impressive. The deck, apparently, is wood.
