Fremont Street is the home to some of Las Vegas' oldest and iconic casinos. The Fremont Street Experience was created in 2004 in order to attract visitors from the Las Vegas Strip to the downtown area.
A 1,500' long and 90' wide vaulted canopy was constructed 90' high above Fremont Street from South Main Street to South 4th Street, an area that was long known as "Glitter Gulch". The canopy has 12.5 million lights and a 550,000 watt sound system. When the lights of the surrounding casinos go dark, visitors experience a spectacular, computer controlled, light and sound show.
