The Latin words "Quante est Sapere! are engraved on the frieze of a two-story brick school, constructed in 1920. The school was built as Webster Junior High School, and was later renamed F.D. Moon Junior High School. The school served the African American community surrounding it until the 1972 when it was closed during mandated desegregation. The building was later sold to the OU Health Sciences Center, and currently houses the administrative support offices.

The phrase "Quante est Sapere" is translated "How Valuable is Wisdom". Their author, Terence was born in either 185 or 195 B.C. (date disputed). Terentius, as he was known, may have been born near Carthage to a woman taken as a slave. He is thought to have been Libyan. Purchased by a Roman senator, Terentius Lucanus, he was educated in Rome. The senator later became so impressed by Terence’s abilities, that he freed him. Terence took the Senator’s name, which is Anglicanized to Terence.

Terence became a playright and wrote a total of six plays. When he was 25, he left Rome and never returned, after having exhibited the six comedies which are still in existence. According to some ancient writers, he died at sea. [Information taken from Wikipedia].

This was an appropriate educational encouragement for young junion high school students of Webster.
